Welcome to the “ON AIR” Video Documentary Red Carpet premiere event website celebrating and honoring the personalities, music and times of Black radio in the 1960s and those who fueled the Civil Rights Movement through the broadcast media in Birmingham, Alabama.

1960’s Black radio was the voice and soul of a people, delivering information and comfort during a time of both trial and triumph.

This incredible event is a continuation of the 100 year Centennial Celebration of the Metro Birmingham, Alabama chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). It is a rare occasion and an honor when a group with such history gets an opportunity to celebrate a centennial anniversary.
